Map the connection points
Identify whether the work is directly above a safe machine position or requires outreach around structure.
INDUSTRY APPLICATION
Steelwork combines changing structure, large working envelopes and interaction with other site plant. The correct access solution depends on construction sequence, ground and connection locations.
PROJECT CONTEXT
Identify whether the work is directly above a safe machine position or requires outreach around structure.
The route and working position can change as steel, decking and envelope elements are installed.
Powered access should be planned alongside cranes, telehandlers, deliveries and exclusion zones rather than in isolation.
Structural drawings may show the completed arrangement, while the access task occurs earlier when decking, bracing, stairs or envelope elements are incomplete. Tell the supplier which stage of erection applies and where the machine will travel and stand. This gives a more reliable basis for assessing height, outreach and terrain requirements.
Steelwork sites can have concentrated crane, telehandler, delivery and MEWP activity. Identify expected operating zones and any restrictions on repositioning between connection points. The best machine is not simply the one with the largest envelope; it must also fit the site logistics and the changing work sequence.
EQUIPMENT CATEGORIES
These categories are examples rather than a specification. The final equipment selection should be confirmed for the project, work method and site conditions.
