Bearing capacity
Soft, disturbed or weak ground can create a different risk profile from a prepared slab. Tell the supplier what is known and flag uncertainty.
Gradients and level
A machine may be able to travel on a gradient that is not acceptable for elevated operation. Follow the specific manufacturer requirements.
Finished surfaces
Internal floors, paving and landscaping may need protection or a different machine/tyre arrangement.
Conditions can change
Weather, excavation and ongoing construction can alter a route or operating area between quotation and delivery, so reassess when the site changes.
Distinguish travel ground from operating ground
The route from delivery point to work area may cross surfaces that differ from the final operating position. Record soft verges, ramps, recently disturbed ground, finished paving, suspended floors or other changes. A machine may be capable of travelling through one area while requiring different conditions before it can be elevated and used.
Escalate uncertainty rather than assuming capacity
Where bearing capacity, floor loading or ground construction is unknown, flag it to the project team and supplier. Visual appearance alone is not a reliable confirmation of support conditions. The equipment choice and any required spreader or protection arrangements should be based on appropriate project information and the manufacturer requirements for the machine offered.
